jueves 19/12

Using the information below, finish copying  down the notes we started in class.  THEN complete the conjugation for the verb hablar - to talk (don't forget to do this part in pencil - just in case).

Regular –ar verb conjugations

Every verb in Spanish has two different forms: infinitive and conjugated

The infinitive form is the one in Spanish that ends in –r.  In English the infinitive form starts with the word “to” followed by the state of being or action word phrase

Example of a verb you already have in your notes:

ser – to be

The conjugated forms of every verb in Spanish are the different forms that are found inside the “box”.  When looking at the verb SER, the six forms inside the box soy, eres, es, somos, sois and son make up the conjugation.

SER is an IRREGULAR verb, it doesn't follow a pattern but has its own pattern.

There is a group of –AR verbs from Unit II that are REGULAR.  That is to say, that the conjugation forms of these verbs follow the same exact pattern of ALL “regular” –ar verbs.

Steps to conjugating a “regular” –ar verb

1. Take off the –ar ending of the verb.  This leaves you with the “stem” of the verb.
2. Using the stem of the verb, add the following endings for each of the boxes that match the subject pronoun.

3. Write the subject pronoun and then the conjugated form of the verb after it.  Then add the English translation after it.  Below is you will try the example conjugation of the verb hablar – to talk.
